Fools Gold

After a shabby night's sleep, it's good to have something like the Grooverider Remix of the Stone Roses' "Fools Gold"track punching out of the headphones into my brain fog to get the synapses firing.

Then again, you might prefer The Stooges' "Down on the Street" or something from surfer - musos like Neale Purchase Jnr or Andrew Kidman, below.

BIG thanks to the folks who invented the app Shazam. It's helped me discover so much new music. Win. And no more bored shop assistants rolling  their eyes when I inquire what's playing and giving me their "I don't know it's just aCD the manager brought in" response.

Every 12 Seconds

It's funny what sticks in your brain decades later. For example, when I was first learning to drive a car, the instructor must have said a thousand instructions, especially "keep over" and "look out for that pedestrian!!!!".
But the only instruction that sticks with me after all this time is "look in the rear view mirror every 12 seconds". Why 12? Why not 10? And who's counting? I'm too busy keeping an eye on the traffic, the speedometer, listening to music, texting. Well no, not texting. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
So in the grand tradition of looking back every 12 seconds, here's a couple of old 35mm Kodachromes from last century, when film was king and when you could camp in the Noosa Woods beside the river (below).
