Serendipities (sic)

Serendipity 1
Pic above can only be shot at a certain time of the day, at a certain time of the year, when the sun rises at a certain nor'easterly angle, on a cloudless day and certain yellow flowers are in bloom.

Serendipity 2
I was looking for the pic above as part of our team's fundraising bicycle ride, when I came across a long forgotten dusty nugget (below) taken in the Sahara Desert on the fly from on top of a camel.

Monochrome Monday (mixing metaphore)

I was hoping to think of some appropriate words to complement these images.

Something deep, like the way the ocean and our lives move through cycles.

Better still, something deep and quirky like, "if a black bird falls out of a black sky into the Black Forest would a falling tree in the Amazon harm a butterfly?"
But that would probably be mixing way too many metaphors and cultures for a Monday.

So then I thought that I was overthinking (again) and decided to let the pix speak (or not) for themselves.

#hashtag

Like most #non-celebrities,
I lead a mostly #boring #life.
But every now and then,
my camera and my computer
conspire to produce
somethng colourful.

Who's Tech?

Just when I think I know Technology, the inexplicable malfunctioning of my email reminds me how little I really know and what small player I am on the grander stage.

Yes, I've tried turning the computer off and  on and off and on again.

Yes I paid the account.

Bringing It All Back Home

I have been blogging since 2009. Maybe it started as some way of responding to my brother passing away from cancer. Some way of leaving something worthwhile behind of my life. Maybe.
Since then, I have lost a young niece and another niece's husband to cancer. It has also hit several of my friend's families.

So this year, when my widowed niece asked me to ride my bicycle raise money for cancer research, I didn't hesitate. I've since discovered it's 200 kms over two days. The furtherest I have ridden on the cruiser bike above (and I was way younger) was 40 kms. So it will be challenging. But nothing compared to what terminal cancer sufferers and their families and friends go through.

BIG THANKS

But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast
Yonder stands your orphan with his gun
Crying like a fire in the sun
Look out the saints are comin' through
And it's all over now, Baby Blue."

Today Wonder

every day has wonder,
you just have to
put in the effort
to look hard,
to listen hard
and to smile soft
Today Wonder
is also a song
