I'm reading a book at the moment called
"The Top Five Regrets
of the Dying"
by Bronnie Ware, who heard first hand
from those she was tending to in palliative care.
Doesn't sound real cheery,
but strangely it's captivating
and empowering for those of us
with the guts to acknowledge
that we will all be there
one day.
So what are the "Top Five?"
"I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself,
not the life others expected of me"
"I wish I hadn't worked so hard."
"I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings"
"I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends."
"I wish I had let myself be happier."
The birds have started singing outside.
I'm off to watch the dawn.
