Worst Gig Eva

Brisbane Powerhouse hosted songsmiths Tom Busby, Zac Gunthorpe and Jai Ray Sparks playing their tunes and talking story about the music craft as well as recounting some of their worst gigs ever.
There's a nut of a book idea right there....

Acceptable circles of confusion

Hyperfocal Distance Formula

"if you love a flower, let it be.
Love is not about possession.
Love is about appreciation."

Osho

All shots taken with 30 year old Nikonos camera, 80mm lens and 35mm film using hyperlocal distance to maximise sharpness. The white background above is not crisp studio backdrop but actually grey over-exposed sky.

Wooden Surfboard Day - Part 1

It was all about sharing the knowledge and the fun - dare I say "maintaining the stoke" - for wooden surf craft. There were hollow boards, solid boards, boards with cork, paulownia, silky oak, oak and camphor laurel. There were experts like Grant Newby, Stuart Bywater and Tom Wegener above right, talking story. There were also kool old skool skateboards and state-of-the-aRt hand planes.
But as a "non-woodsmith", what I did take away was how enthusiastic this crew were to share tips and tricks and encouragement to the rest of us.
Big thanks to Grant Newby for organising the event. Two thumbs up to the Currumbin locals for sharing their crispy waves and huge thanks to the Wood Buddha for driving and feeding me.
All shots with 50mm Canon EF F1.4 on a very used Canon 7D.
